Chris Cloyce Hartley Sr., 62, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1953, in Hocking County, to Orland Frank and Jean (Gilland) Hartley.
Chris was a devoted, loving father. He was a selfless man who loved all his family. There was never anything he wouldn't do for a family member, friend or a stranger in need. His love, laughter and humor were contagious. To know him was to love him.
Chris was a truck driver, logger, owner/operator of We Dig Dirt and was a Jack of all trades. He was an extraordinarily hard-working man his entire life. He was constantly impressing people with his vast work ethic and strength. He was the man everyone wanted for the job.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia May Hartley.
Chris is survived by his son, Chris C. (Shea) Hartley Jr. of Edgewood, Texas; daughters, Traci K. (Robert) Taylor of Dixon, California, and Sandy Lynn (Larry) Gorum of Nevada, Texas; mother of his children, Alice Picklesimer; grandchildren, Chris III, Lorenn, Alyssa and Sara Hartley, Jordyn Taylor, Cody Hartley, Colten and Caden Capps, Teresa Cook, Heather Little and Kaci Welch; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Dan (Wilma) Hartley of Mechanicsburg, Linda Nesser and Frank Hartley, both of Laurelville, Virginia Shaw of Lancaster, Bruce (Sherry) Hartley of Stoutsville, Dara Hartley of Tucson, Arizona, Diane Coffey of Petoskey, Michigan, and Kirk (Ruth) Hartley of Kingston.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at the Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville, with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Laurelville on Saturday.
