CIRCLEVILLE - Street crews will be out in force this week, taking advantage of fair weather and mild temperatures to repair potholes throughout the city.

John Ankrom, director of public services, said the city recently brought in 15 tons of material and crews were out on Monday "going crazy" repairing the streets.

"We have an account of about $30,000 this year to draw out of," Ankrom said. "This year will probably be comparable to last year because that was a bad winter, too. This week the weather should be good, though, and we can get a lot of it taken care of."

Ankrom said crews are working on known potholes, but there are some of which they may not be aware.

"If people know of any that need repaired, they should call our office and let us know," Ankrom said. "We can get them on the list and get someone out there to fill them in."

The city's service department can be reached at (740) 477-8224.

Ankrom said potholes in areas scheduled to be repaved this summer will likely not get a lot of attention at this time unless they are considered a hazard. Those areas include the remainder of Clark Drive, Maumee Drive, Holiday Lane, Meadow Lane and Greenacre Court.

He said the city also hopes to repave all of Pinckney Street and Sperry Road west of U.S. Route 23 between Tim Horton's and Rooster's in the first project package that goes out to bid late March or early April.

A second project package hopefully will be decided this summer, Ankrom said.
