CIRCLEVILLE - Pickaway County voters will see no candidates on the May primary ballot Tuesday, but some will find important issues affecting schools and government at the polls.

Voters in the Logan Elm Local School District in Pickaway and Hocking counties will be asked to renew two levies that provide operating funds for the district.

The first is the renewal of an income tax levy of 1 percent for five years beginning Jan. 1, 2016, for current operating expenses. This levy currently generates about $2.3 million per year for the district.

The second is the renewal of a 2.6 mill levy for five years commencing in 2015 providing for the emergency requirements of the school district. This levy currently generates about $812,000 per year for the district.

Since both levies are renewals, they will not generate any new taxes but simply extend existing taxes for another five-year period.

Circleville residents will decide Tuesday on a proposed city charter that would change the current statutory form of government to a charter form. Information on the proposed charter can be found by clicking here.

A small number of Pickaway County voters in the Miami Trace Local School District will be asked to approve a bond issue and additional tax levy for construction of new schools and the cost of maintaining classroom facilities included in the project.

The Miami Trace bond issue is 3.4 mills for 37 years commencing in 2015. The additional tax levy is .5 mill for 23 years commencing in 2015. Both issues are an overlap from Fayette County.

Polls are open Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
